General information
Byala attracts with its beaches, clear sea and pure forest air, as the resort is surrounded by forest.
The first settlement on this site arose over 1,500 years ago. Byala's terrain can be described as hilly. The coastline of this region is rocky with small bays, which limits the beach on one side but makes the area more picturesque on the other.

This is probably the quietest seaside resort we've seen, with few people during peak season. Most of the tourists were Russian-speaking.

The town of Byala is located approximately in the middle of the Black Sea coast Bulgaria. The nearest town to Byala is Overview.

How to get there?

The nearest airport is Varna — 60 km. Buses from Varna run regularly to Byala, every 30 to 1 hour. Buy the cheapest bus tickets. You can do it here. You can also get to Byala by taxi.

A pleasant discovery was that public parking in the city is free, there's plenty of it, and there are spaces available, even near the beach. You can book a private transfer to Byala. here.

Beach

The road to the beach runs mostly in the shade of trees, and you can sit on a bench, of which there are many at the resort.

Byala's largest beach stretches for over 2 km. The coastline itself accounts for approximately 3 percent of the entire length of the Bulgarian Black Sea coastline.

To get to the beach in Byala, you need to go down some fairly comfortable steps with rest areas.

The beach in Byala is mixed. The main part is a strip of fine sand with some rocks, then there's a strip of shell rock right at the shore, followed by a strip of coarse sand at the entrance to the sea. Then, in the sea itself, there are some fairly large and slippery rocks, so it's advisable to enter the water slowly.

The beach has lifeguards and a medical team. As with other beaches in Bulgaria, you can rent umbrellas, sun loungers, and other items. In addition to the paid umbrella area, there's also a free area.

If you want privacy on the beach, just walk a few hundred meters to the side and there will be no one around you.

Accommodation prices on Booking.com start at twenty and a half euros per night for a double room for a week. This price is for a room in a guesthouse and not very close to the sea. Moreover, the return journey will be uphill.

There are also ads like these in the city, with phone numbers where you can rent an apartment or room directly from the owner. The city offers hotels ranging from 1 to 4 stars.

The best-reviewed hotel is Vello Apartments, with a whopping 9.8 stars. But the price per night is €83.

Nutrition

Byala has a wide selection of restaurants and cafes. You can grab a bite at one of the bars on the main street that runs right down to the sea.

There are several small grocery stores in the city.

What to see in Byala?

You can visit the authentic late antique fortress located on Cape Saint Atanas. Archaeological excavations and research are still ongoing so that scientists can gather more information about the site.

An adult entrance ticket costs 2.5 euros, or 4 euros if you buy it with a museum ticket; discounts are available.
In the center of the town is the Chapel of St. Tryphon, and right next to it is an open summer theater.

Nearby are the White Rocks, which showcase a classic display of the Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary; there is also a demonstration center. The White Rocks paleogeological site is located between the northern side of the central beach and the mouth of the Belaya River.

Byala is definitely an underrated and under-promoted seaside resort in Bulgaria. We were pleasantly surprised by how neat and clean the resort town is. There are an abundance of trash cans in the town, and we haven't seen so many benches at other resorts in Bulgaria, or anywhere else. We recommend Byala primarily to those seeking relaxation and privacy, but also value cleanliness and comfort. The price-quality ratio is top-notch. Those who enjoy a more active and vibrant vacation will likely find Byala boring.
